In Announcements, IT Trends, Managed IT Services, Remote Workforce

Over the past two years, businesses have become unwitting veterans of the pandemic: companies have settled into the upheaval of home working, socially distanced operations, and managing the technology adaptations needed to continue business as usual. Despite the massive disruption of a pandemic, corporations have bounced back: the economy in the USA rebounded in 2021, up by 5.7% on 2020 figures; expectations are that this upwards trend will continue into 2022.

But 2021 also saw some challenges on the security side, with https://wendego.com/global-state-of-the-channel-ransomware-part-1-malware-perspectives/ransomware attacks taking place every 11 seconds, according to research from Cybersecurity Ventures.

Here at Wendego, we keep an eye on the changing landscape. Our business is to smooth out the wrinkles where business and technology intersect. Here we look back to 2021, to look forward to a great new year…

2021 into 2022: the new normal and the rise of the MSP

A defining feature of 2021 must be the normalization of working from home, or at least, flexible working. This change of attitude towards work has resulted in the phenomenon known as “The Great Resignation”. This is reflected in data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, showing that in November 2021, 4.5 million Americans quit their job voluntarily. Many of these resignations came from skilled IT personnel, something that is expected to continue into 2022: a survey from TalentLMS found that 72% of US-based tech employees are thinking of leaving their job in the next 12 months. If this continues to happen, the great brain drain will become the brain flood.

However, when gaps open, they are quickly filled: a TechTarget IT Priorities research project found that 86% of companies want to work with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) in 2022. Wendego, as an MSP, took advantage of this new trend and expanded our technical support team by two new engineers during 2021!

Wendego delivered successful IT projects in 2021

In 2021, Wendego delivered two new major projects that empowered our customers to deliver successful digital transformation projects and to protect themselves against cybersecurity threats:

  • Cloud migration projects: Wendego’s large-scale, once-in-a-lifetime, https://wendego.com/solutions/wendego-cloud-solutions/migration project packages helped migrate 40% of our customers to the cloud. This brought the total percentage of “cloud native” customers to 80%. A phenomenal achievement and a major jump in productivity and reliability for our new and existing cloud native customers.
  • Upgraded cybersecurity systems: Wendego upgraded all managed end point devices with a state-of-the-art Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) system by SentinelOne. In addition, we have upgraded our email security system with a file attachment sand boxing and deep scanning capability and added DNS filtration & protection system. We have upgraded and added these services with no additional cost to our customers!
  • New cloud file management and storage: Wendego has partnered with LucidLink, a leading cloud-based file management and storage provider, to bring our customers a high performance, on-demand remote editing for large and complex data structures.

In 2022, Wendego will continue to deliver on these vital needs of the modern business to ensure exceptional and cost-effective services.

Important Changes in 2022

Working with an MSP is increasingly important as technology and business meet at an inflection point. New services are coming down the line, with remote work conditions pushing the need for effective and integrated systems. Cloud apps continue to meet the needs of a diverse and expansive business model. Cybersecurity risk mitigation is becoming an increasingly challenging and specialist area as traditional tools like anti-virus are not up to the job of modern cyber-threat prevention.

MSPs are in a unique position to bring next-generation Security and IT Operations to the reach of even the smallest organization. An MSP can keep costs down without affecting quality.

2022: Eye of the Tiger

2022 is the Chinese Year of the Tiger. The tiger symbolizes strength, bravery, and resilience. Over the last two years, cutting-edge technology solutions have helped companies use these qualities to stay ahead of the competition. Wendego is proud to have delivered these technologies to you all, and we look forward to a fulfilling new year with all our valued customers.
